CSS Zen Garden is a creation by the legendary Dave Shea. It's a showcase of designs created using the CSS language. It was created during the start of the web standards movement, and it succeeding in showing the world that great visual design can be achieved using CSS.
The rules were that you weren’t allowed to change the HTML markup, only use the ids and classes to attach CSS styles to in an external stylesheet. I had a go at creating a page focused around a photo of a painted wall, purely to see how well I could utilise CSS for presentation.
I’ve since learnt a lot about everything involved (layout, colour, typography, css) and in hindsight I could have done more with the design, and probably coded the CSS a little more efficiently, but the result is pretty successful.
