Things to do and things to come

This post is mostly for my use, but I would love some feedback on the current state of this site, to help its evolution. I'm not changing anything radical, just adding, tweaking, maintaining. What follows is a to do list for me, basically.

Features to Add

  • Search
  • Live preview for commenting
  • Archiving based on categories
  • More footer content to balance it out

My move to Nottingham in the next week or so will also (hopefully) get me right back in to the live music scene, and I hope to start reflecting that on here (I’ve already found a load of gigs via last.fm). Expect frequent gig and record reviews.

Tweaks/Modifications

  • Tidy up CSS, make HTML more semantic
  • Content images - define styling for full-width and float-left
  • Streamline EE templates, making the site easier to manage
  • Sort EE custom weblog fields for work section
  • Standard unordered lists need a bit of line-height tweakery
  • Need to style more elements - blockquote, code, del, abbr { cursor : help; }, etc
  • Reduce whitespace above footer
  • Larger, more showcasey screengrabs on the Work index page
  • Comments are rather bulky, consider condensing
  • A more intresting about page
  • Homepage lists last 5 posts, even though the main content column lists them with summaries etc, seems a little pointless
  • Get rid of nasty index.php for nicer URLs
  • Implement ‘recommended’ into EE

Lots to do, eh?

I think that’s about it, as I said I would be grateful for any feedback regarding the site now or any of the above changes. What would you do to the site? Anything you’d like to read about in the future besides music?

    Greg,

The only issue I have noticed is that your article URLs are wrong in your RSS feed, so clicking through gives a 404.
