Erskine Design at FOWD

Once upon a time, or more specifically during the afternoon of Wednesday 16th April, members of the team that is Erskine Design started to head into the city that is London. These hairy, broad-foreheaded ogres from the north were descending upon this nation's capital for an event of medium proportions. This is their story.

The event was Future of Web Design, a conference event for those folks fortunate enough to work in the web industry. Our heroes arrived at a hotel in London town during a period of the day is often called “evening”. If they had one ounce of shame they would have flinched at the idea of spending two days together in such hazardous proximities.

Beverages of an alcoholic nature were consumed along with some hot curries, and the group (currently consisting of Campbell, Collison, Pittock and Wood) progressed to the FOWD before-party where, most importantly, the quartet were joyously introduced to the free bar. People were met, drinks were drank, fun was had. Typically among the last to leave, our heroes noisily vacated the premises in the early hours for a classic 4 hours of repose.

Day Two

The day of the event was upon the team that is Erskine Design as fast as a mosquito who has just bitten a Critter. Sleep deprived and hungover, our courageous fellows soldiered on, acquiring themselves a breakfast of English origin before using a public transport system to render themselves utterly lost. Wandering around this nation’s capital in the rain led some members of the troop to start pointing blame and throwing around dangerous words such as “clusterfuck”. Harsh times.

After rectifying the potentially explosive situation by using some sense that is common, the quartet found the venue hosting said event and installed themselves. They shortly became a quintet, as master douche bag of the universe Swinfield/Swinbrook, joined the ranks. General good times were had by all. Wood also recorded a new lap record for the Banshee Boardwalk track; a feat of pure skill and talent that he was delighted with.

The conclusion of the event saw the quintet liaise with a large number of individual humans to form a particularly unruly mob of sorts. The presence of Brown, Cale, Clayson, Gregory, Dr Henley and Van Damme was welcome and enhancing. Following the pub and the restaurant things started gradually to deteriorate. Topic of conversation became more controversial and in cases obscene, the use of the English language became rather colourful, and the straight line along which people are usually able to walk along became wildly distorted. Finer details relating to the night’s events have been omitted due to acute memory loss.

Today

Following a three hour session of repose, our plucky heroes awoke and performed a meeting, input from some participants being minimal at best, probably due to one of those bugs that are going around. With spirits high and livers on overdrive, the team that is Erskine Design headed back north to the wastelands that they call home for some lasagne.

Future of Web Design 2008: done.
