  • Erskine Design at FOWD

Once upon a time, or more specifically during the afternoon of Wednesday 16th April, members of the team that is Erskine Design started to head into the city that is London. These hairy, broad-foreheaded ogres from the north were descending upon this nation's capital for an event of medium proportions. This is their story.

  • Hell Yes

The act of jumping on bandwagons often proves to be a frustrating and disappointing exercise, and for good reason. The fact is that if a large amount of people like something, it's generally shite in some way or another; Keane, Carlsberg, Nike, Pirates of the Caribbean, Communism. The list goes on. The bandwagon syndrome however, does have its advantages and sometimes reaffirms your faith in the oh so fickle "let's all do the same thing" mentally.

  • Message from a mental-Greg

    Message from a mental-Greg

Today, directly in the offices of Erskine Design (where I work) and extraordinarily aware of the absence of any real force of authority, I slacked off for one whole hour. No really, I did slack off, chimp style. I put my feet up, purchased myself a tasty beverage, and slumped.

  • Ben Saunders and his North Pole Speed Record

Ben Saunders and his North Pole Speed Record

Ben Saunders is a polar explorer, an athlete and a legend. At Erskine Design we got the pleasure of working with Ben on a website for his latest expedition; a solo speed record to the North Pole. Seeing as I had a significant role in the project, I thought I'd talk about some of the directions and decisions that were made during it's development.

  • Photoset: Penguin Books

    Penguin Books

Last week, Monsieur Collison and I raided the lovely Oxfam shop in Hockley, Nottingham on the basis that the front window was full of a massive display of beautifully designed Penguin books. My credit card took a bit of a beating but these look lovely on my shelves in the lounge.

  • Is Colly’s Stew really ‘all that’?

The man known only to some as 'Colly' remains a mysterious presence in most stew circles. People only know that he uses a 'fuck off big pan' and ugly Sneinton veg, but somehow, his stew reached almost national fame. The question is, is it the product of a spinster who works too much and has 31 cats? Or will Michelin chefs bow down to this anonymous figure, kissing his feet in return for his recipes? Intrepid reporter Greg Wood investigates...

  • Spring Cleaning

Seeing as I'm averaging one post a month, I thought I'd better apologize to you, the expectant reader, and explain why. The truth is, Colly's cracking the whip pretty hard, and Glen and I, as new recruits, are being forced to perform a number of hideous tasks as part of our 'initiation'.

  • New Beginings

Clichéd title, I know. But I couldn't think of a better or more appropriate one for this piece of news. 20 hours of public transport, numerous handshakes and a few nerves later, I'm absolutely chuffed to reveal that I'll be starting work with Erskine Design.
